It Seems Like Only Yesterday

On September 3, 2014, my father passed away at the age of 92. I cannot express how much I miss him and how I wish that I could see him and talk to him again.

Here is a poem that I wrote in honor of my Dad. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke you knew that you should listen because he was going to say something special, wise, and witty.

             It Seems Like Only Yesterday

I remember our talks when I was young
It seems like only yesterday…
We joked about blue horses and purple cows
What color is a pig? A pig is green I think!
We laughed and smiled at our silly ways

We never wondered why the chicken crossed the road
We laughed at the thought of the chicken falling down!
May the bird of paradise fly up your nose
Only the nose knows was a favorite reply

I started my school day laughing with my Dad
"Don't you freeze, you goober peas!"
A goober pea, such a funny phrase!
Oh how I long for those good old days

Cloud-zilla

I really don't know where this blog is going…so far it hasn't gone very far! My head has been in the clouds lately!

I am loving the weather right now, and as I was leaving work yesterday, I noticed how beautiful the sky was, especially the sun streaming behind the clouds. I snapped this photo just before getting into my car. I noticed later that it resembled Godzilla! Don't you think?

I did a little googling (I'm a google-fanatic) on clouds and stumbled upon this website:

Who knew? And, of course, there is an app for that!

Happy cloud watching!

The name of this blog may seem strange, but this phrase is near and dear to my heart. As a kid, my dad would say this phrase, "Don't you freeze, you goober peas!" when he dropped me and my younger sister, Karen, off at school. It was his way of getting us to laugh and start the day off with a smile! Well, it worked Dad!! Thanks so much for your witty and great sense of humor! You still got it today at 92 years young! I am so blessed to have such great parents. Mom is 91 years young, and they will celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary on June 12, 2014!

Thanks for reading my first post! Have a goo-brrriffic day!
